Need to find out what the heck i am doing wrong, BtS to me is ten times harder to MOD??? All i did was add 2 units, 2 leaderheads and 2 civs, thats it! Attached is a copy of what i did, what am i doing wrong?? If you press on this, it will automatically d/l the zip file: forums.civfanatics.com/uploads/86969/Test.zipEDIT: Here's what i did, i deleted all the units in UnitInfo, and just added the 2 units. Started the MOD, first the UnitArtStyleType showed up, then the Unit_Archer and about fifteen more??, etc. so i just OK'ed ALL of those and it got to the choice of the Civs and then it startedto load and then it went to YOU ARE DEFEATED!!!

I saw your thread on Civfanatics.. Maybe it is because you deleted all the units? I added one in today and it worked fine, but I added them in with the other units.

I tried it both ways, it didnt matter. What is weird is that ArtStylesInfo pops up all the time for an Archer but i deleted those also and when i press thru them it goes to the Civs Dragon and Death, i choice which Civ i want then it starts loading then YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED??

Weird.. Hmm, I might be able to get a look at it, still having fun playing the game. You know, someone will probably figure this out and in a couple years we will come back and laugh at ourselves for our "stupidness" (Not saying you are though.. )

Heh. I kinda did the same sorta thing. I was trying to add sounds for a civilization and it kept crashing. ***noticed a typo in the remarks I was adding into to the XML *** LOL

I wonder why these BtS MODs keep crashing without any error messages like they did in Warlords?? Crash to desktop, not a very good idea!!

Who knows.. I wish they would have created an error log where it tells you all the went wrong. I did get an ethnically diverse unit in, I was quite proud of myself.

So did you get that to work?

Ok, I think it has to do with something in the Unit's Art XML. I added a ship, but the game kept crashing without a message. Turns out I had added an extra "_" in. So it was ART_DEF_UNIT__CRUISER instead of ART_DEF_UNIT_CRUISER which was what the UnitInf's.xml was looking for..

I got it all figured out, you HAVE to have all the other units in the game and the artdefines also, then start adding YOUR units. Plus i had a guy try to show me how to run a MODULE install, i will give it a try on a different MOD, cant bet on it though, LOL

Yeah, that looks like the tough bit (The Modular stuff)> I am going to have to take a deeper look at it.

Here is an Issue Posted on my Plug and Play Forum... The Dutch right now have one Leader. Someone created a second leader and within the Module included the CivilizationInfos.Xml file to go with it like they should. IF... Someone is to create a third leader. they wouldn't be able to add it in because their CivilizationInfos.Xml would override the Second Leaderheads Xml file. The Only solution I see at this time is to create 3 different Modules 1. Add in Second LH 2. Add in Third LH 3. Add in both 2nd + 3rd LH's Imagine the problem with adding in a forth. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I was often wondering that myself. Too bad we couldn't re-do the CvCivilizationsInfos.xml and remove any traces of the Leader entirely, and make it so that the CvLeaderheadInfo.xml file determines which Leader belongs to what Civ, with a tag of some sort. Then again, I suppose ANYTHING is possible with the right knowledge and talent.

maybe you could just make the leaders non-modular, so that if you have a civ loaded, all of its leaders will be loaded always. You could still have very significant savings of memory, by not loading all the civs, or only the ones you want for sure.
I was thinking of a similar problem, using the gamefonts, and trying to make resources, maybe even religions modular. It seems to me that its gonna be very hard if not impossible, but maybe someone could figure out a way.
